In 1965, standard-sized cabinets were all the rage, the average turnaround time on components was weeks — not days — and the tape-controlled routing and shaping machine was still a year away from making its mark in the woodworking industry. It was against this backdrop that Jack Lansford Sr. made the pivotal decision to start a custom wood door factory to service small cabinetmakers in Southern California.

In 1965, ordering custom cabinet components was not as convenient as when Jack Lansford, Sr. started Decore-ative Specialties. Now, Anytime® Online Account Management provides customers with the freedom to build, submit and review orders online.

Decore-ative Specialties hosted members of the Wood Products Manufacturers Association on Wednesday, October 15th in their Monroe facility. WPMA members were provided an extensive tour of Decore-ative’s eastern operations.

In 1965, our parents' started “Decore Door” and began producing some of the first ever custom cabinet doors in California. Whether it was the hollow core, back panel, or Revere ¾” raised panel door, their focus was on the customer first by providing the best possible quality, lead time, and service.
